Indian Bangle Size Guide

Indian bangle sizes are named by the inner diameter, not by a US bracelet number. A size 2.4, 2.6, or 2.8 is the measurement most customers already know from a bangle that fits. Use the chart below, then confirm with one of the two measuring methods.

Sizes step up by 1/8 inch. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one for a solid bangle that must pass over the knuckle. A snug everyday fit is usually the smaller of the two.

Openable and hinged kadas

Openable and hinged kadas do not have to slide over the widest part of your hand. Size them to the wrist itself: the kada should close comfortably, sit flat, and leave enough room to rotate. If a solid bangle in your usual size feels tight only at the knuckle, the same Indian size in a hinged kada will feel easier. Still avoid a kada that pinches when it closes.

How to measure

Method 1 — Inner diameter of a bangle you already own

  1. Choose a solid bangle that fits the way you want this one to fit.
  2. Lay it flat on a table.
  3. Measure the straight inner diameter from inside edge to inside edge, across the center. Do not include the metal thickness.
  4. Match that measurement to the chart. 2.25 inches is a 2.4, 2.375 inches is a 2.6, and 2.50 inches is a 2.8.

Method 2 — Knuckle circumference

  1. Tuck your thumb into your palm so the hand is as narrow as it will be when a bangle slides on.
  2. Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the hand, over the knuckles.
  3. Note the circumference in inches or millimeters.
  4. Divide the circumference by 3.14 to get the diameter, then match that diameter to the chart. A 7.5 inch knuckle circumference is about 2.39 inches across, closest to size 2.6 (2.375 in / 60.3 mm).
